The Story of Paged LabTech Success

When Paged LabTech was established in 2019 as the research and development centre of the PAGED Group, its mission was straightforward: connect science with industrial practice and turn ideas into technologies that could be successfully implemented in Paged's production of plywood and furniture. What began as an internal R&D centre from the idea of Jarosław Michniuk, has since evolved into an accredited research, development and innovation hub serving multiple industries and helping shape the future of wood-based materials for global companies.

Today, in 2026, Paged LabTech is home to a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technologists, researchers and laboratory specialists working in modern research facilities, supported by advanced testing infrastructure and semi-industrial prototyping capabilities. More importantly, it has become a place where scientific knowledge meets practical industrial challenges every day.

From ambitious projects to breakthrough innovations

The first years focused on developing research capabilities and delivering large-scale development projects funded through European programmes. These initiatives explored innovative wood-based panels, composite materials for transport applications, enhanced-performance furniture solutions and low-emission technologies, creating the foundation for future innovations.

🌿 2022 brought one of the first major breakthroughs: Paged GreenPly.

Developed with a plant-based adhesive system, GreenPly challenged the belief that environmental responsibility must come at the expense of performance. It proved that renewable materials can successfully support modern industrial manufacturing while meeting demanding technical requirements.

✨ In 2024 came Paged StringPly.

With thicknesses starting from just 1 mm, exceptional flexibility and unique translucent properties, StringPly opened entirely new possibilities for designers, architects and furniture manufacturers. It demonstrated that plywood can be both an engineering material and a creative medium.

🔥🌧️ The same innovation-driven approach led to Paged DryGuard FR.

This groundbreaking plywood combined two characteristics rarely achieved together in wood-based materials: resistance to weather exposure and top-tier fire performance. The product achieved reaction-to-fire classification B-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1 while maintaining protection against moisture and biological degradation according to PN-EN 927-5 and PN-EN 927-3. It set a new benchmark for structural plywood used in demanding construction environments.

A question that changed everything

💡 Then the team tackled one of the industry's biggest challenges:

Can plywood be produced without added formaldehyde while maintaining industrial performance?

The answer became Paged FreePly.

Developed through years of research, technological trials and cooperation between scientists and engineers, FreePly introduced a no-added-formaldehyde bonding technology capable of industrial-scale implementation. The product complies with some of the world's most demanding emission requirements, including CARB Phase 2, EPA TSCA Title VI and emerging European regulations like REACH 05.

🏆 The significance of this innovation was recognised in 2026 when Radosław Krawcewicz, Head of Wood Bonding & Enhancement at Paged LabTech, received the title of Technologist of the Year 2026 for his contribution to the development of the technology used in Paged FreePly and Paged FreePly Nature. The solution achieved a formaldehyde emission level of only 0.0018 ppm, measured according to EN 717-1, approaching the natural emission level of wood itself.

Recognition built on expertise

🏅 Innovation does not happen in isolation.

Over the years, Paged LabTech has received recognition from the European Forum for Smart Development, reflecting the growing impact of its work on industrial innovation, sustainable materials and technology transfer between science and business.

Another milestone came in January 2026, when the centre achieved accreditation from the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA) under scope AB 1954. The accreditation confirms compliance with PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 for formaldehyde emission testing according to PN-EN ISO 12460-3, validating the competence of personnel, reliability of measurement processes and international credibility of test results.

Supporting industry from concept to implementation

🛋️ Furniture manufacturers. 🚆 Railway rolling stock producers and their suppliers. 🏗️ Timber construction companies. 🌍 Businesses developing safer and more sustainable materials.

Today, Paged LabTech provides comprehensive research, testing and development services for companies across multiple sectors. Its capabilities include accredited formaldehyde emission testing, fire performance evaluation, material engineering, bonding technologies, composite development, prototyping, scale-up and certification support.

Every project follows the same philosophy:

From concept → through research → prototype → validation → industrial implementation.

More than a building

The headquarters opened in Pisz in 2023 are often the most visible symbol of Paged LabTech's growth. Yet the real success story lies elsewhere. It is found in the people who ask difficult questions, the researchers who turn challenges into opportunities and the innovations that reach production lines, construction sites, vehicles and interiors around the world.

Because the story of Paged LabTech is not really about a super modern R&D facility

It is about curiosity.

It is about courage to challenge what is considered impossible.

It is about transforming research into solutions that industry can actually use.

And it is all about the team!
